Drinking Aloe Vera Orange drink September 29th, 2006

It’s suppose to be good for the throat. I think it’s Korean but this drink has been adopted by all concerned asians worldwide. Really it’s just very sugary syrup with bits of annoying orange peel that don’t really serve any purpose (unless you have to eat them but that’s gross). My cough is getting super phlegmy and my nose, bleah. Yesterday, had to subject people sitting beside me in a tight classroom to my germs. I apologize to you if you ever read this blog, but I doubt you will. I hope you don’t get sick like me.

On a happy note, pumpkin-carving is so ON at Villa Cathay (my grandmother’s retirement home). It’s going to be on Sat. Oct 28th. Same day as Ally’s birthday :-( Fortunately, it’ll only be from 2:30pm - 3:45pm, leaving lots of time at night for festivities. Thanks to Bonnie for coming out to meet with the care home staff and acting as my Cantonese translator when it came to my Grandmother. Next step, produce a advertisement for the event and find someone willing to give me a couple dozen pumpkins!

Installed TRAC for ticket-tracking at last! What a royal pita installing this thing on a shared linux server. Please trac people if you are listening, please consider bundling the 30 other pieces of software needed into a bin or something. For goodness sake! Now just have to get the notifications working. I think that’s a sendmail smtp relay issue and am going to rely on the knowledgeable westhost tech support. Also was able to get crontab to recognize our Ruby script finally. This also took much longer than it should have. The aha moment came when i found that cron executes in it’s own context and does not inherit shell environment variables such as PATH. good to know. so much linux bashing this week. i hate-love it. love to hate it? or just hate it. yea that’s it.

Clinton Smackdown September 24th, 2006

I’m not a political expert. Not even close. but i am a big fan of Bill Clinton. The guys got balls and he did a lot for the American people but was unfortunately overshadowed by scandal. Check out the smack he gives Fox News.

On the homefront, i’m still hacking like i’ve never hacked so much in my life. It hurts my head so I had an advil (for migraine relief). Now i’m feeling a weird buzz, head still hurts, and hacking some more. Hope to get some work done on Booksprouts tonight.

wow, this is for real i guess September 23rd, 2006

It’s 2:50am right now on a friday night and i’ve just launched my first real blog! I’m tired and have a whooping cough that is driving me nuts. Hello Neo-citron and Buckley’s. I want to thank Ally for letting me use her ComfySneakers provider for hosting this site. All it cost me to get this thing up and running is $9 (that’s in USD tho), courtesy of GoDaddy.com. Free hosting, compliments of comfysneakers, and free software, compliments of Wordpress.

So what is beingdaveto? Not quite sure yet. I’ll keep you updated on my online businesses here, which are non-existent as of yet. But we’re aiming for October 16th to have beta for BookSprouts. Holla!! Aside from that, I’ll ramble as most blogs do, about life and such. Hopefully, I’ll get into a rhythm and make this almost a daily thing. Feel free to comment or say hello if you’re reading this. Now, time to have one last hit of Buckley’s before bedtime. MM MM Delicious!
